Currently, 14 provinces are proposing healthcare charge hike, said Nguyen Nam Lien, head of the Department of Planning and Finance of the Ministry of Health.
The central province of Binh Dinh, Ninh Thuan, the northern province of Dien Bien, and the Mekong delta province of Dong Thap, An Giang, Hau Giang and Hanoi are proposing the increase of healthcare fee but it does not exceed the Ministry’s proposed new hospital-fee framework.
For instance, Binh Dinh Province suggested increasing 800 medical services up to 75 – 80 per cent of the maximum level regulated by the Ministry.
Mr. Lien said that these proposals are waiting for the approval of provincial People’s Councils.
Generally, these proposals are reasonable because the provinces has raised the medical service fees to the levels which are lower than the ceiling rates set by the Ministry, he added.
