Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd on July 29 introduced the first Haswell CPUs manufactured at its factory in the Saigon Hi-tech Park in HCM City.

Haswell is the fourth generation Intel’s Core i-series processor found in laptops and desktops.
Speaking at the launch of the products, Sherry Boger, General Director of Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd, expressed her gratitude to HCM City for creating favourable conditions for the company to invest in and produce high technology products.
Le Manh Ha, Vice Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee, said this was an important milestone for the enterprise and has made a huge impact on the technology industry in Viet Nam. He noted that Intel’s focus on producing processors in HCM indicated that it was an attractive destination for global technology corporations to invest in.
Haswell, the fourth generation Intel's Core i-series processor for laptops and desktops, is being manufactured in Viet Nam. It is expected to provide 80 per cent of the products to the world market in the near future.
Intel has invested more than US$450 million into production in Viet Nam and is expected to provide 80 per cent of the finished products to the world market in the near future.
Its factory officially began operations in October 2010, and has been considered one of Intel’s largest assembly and test manufacturing (ATM) units. It is in charge of production, testing and packaging before transferring products to its distribution channels. Intel now has seven ATMs all over the world, including the US, Costa Rica, China, Israel and Malaysia.
It first produced chipsets for laptops and mobile devices and manufactured Atom SoC (System on a chip) at the end of 2013.
