This competitive program offers grants of up to US$10,000 to Vietnamese non-governmental organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals to conduct programs and activities in conjunction with the embassy. Such programs or activities must be completed in 2015 to mark the 20th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral ties.
Proposals in English must be due by July 31 and final selections are expected to be announced by August 31, the U.S. Embassy announces in a statement.
Proposals can be submitted for up to US$10,000 or more in exceptional cases. Priority will be given to projects in Vietnam’s outlying and underserved provinces. Proposals can be about various topics, such as fostering the exchange of information and building of a professional media, protecting the environment and natural resources, support for sustainable urban planning, promoting understanding of the U.S, and promoting opportunities for disadvantaged groups among others.

U.S. Embassy offers fellowships for high school English teachers
The U.S. Embassy in Vietnam has launched a fellowship program for English teachers under the age of 40 from high schools for gifted students in Vietnam’s mountainous and remote provinces.
This program is designed to bring more than ten English teachers from high schools in underserved provinces of Vietnam to the U.S. to learn English and improve their teaching methods to increase their efficacy at their schools. The teachers will attend a U.S. university for the 2014-2015 academic year for about ten months.
Shortlisted candidates will be sponsored to attend interviews and the U.S. Department of State will cover international roundtrip airfare, tuition fees, lodging, meals, books and materials, and medical insurance for the finalists in this program.
Candidates are required to be a current teacher at a high school for gifted students, have never studied for over six months in the U.S., the U.K, Australia or New Zealand, have the English proficiency level at or above one of the following: B2 (Common European Framework), 6.0 (IELTS), 525 (paper-based TOEFL) or 71 (iBT) and have at least three years of teaching experience at the current high school for gifted students.
Applicants have to demonstrate commitment to share knowledge and skills gained from the fellowship program with colleagues and students upon the completion of the program and to continue teaching at the current high school for gifted students for at least five years upon the completion of the program.
