VGP – General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Friday visited the Nghi Son Economic Zone (EZ) in Thanh Hoa province after almost eight years of construction and development.

Covering an area of 18,600ha, the EZ has attracted 294 projects with a total investment capital of US$16.5 billion.
Major projects include a petrochemical refinery complex, a cement factory, a thermal power plant and a deep seaport.
The EZ is defined as one of Viet Nam’s key coastal economic zones which is of significance to socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa and the whole country as well.
It has been developed into a comprehensive, multi-sector economic zone with more focus on heavy and fundamental industries./.
