PANO – A high-ranking Laotian military delegation, led by Minister of National Defence, Senior Lieutenant General Sengnuon Saynhalat, paid a visit to Army Corps 15 of the Vietnam People’s Army on September 19th.
>>Defence cooperation deepens Vietnam-Laos relationship
Receiving the delegation, the unit’s Commander Major General Dang Anh Dung held that the visit was part of activities contributing to cultivating the two armies’ traditional and friendly relations.
Apart from doing business domestically, the unit planted over 1,700ha of rubber trees in Laos, ensuring stable income for local workers. The unit spent hundreds of billions of VND to help Laotian hamlets develop economy and preserve their cultural identities.
The Corps’ units have effectively teamed up with local authorities in areas where they are stationed to further promote the poverty alleviation by building new ten primary and secondary schools, 110 kindergartens and some leisure centres for local students and children.
Senior Lieutenant General Sengnuon Saynhalat thanked the corps for helping Laotian localities upgrade the infrastructure, create jobs for local people, and equip Lao cadres and officials with rubber production techniques.
The Lao Defence Minister asked the Viettnamese army corps to expand the acreage under rubber in Laos to create more job opportunities and vocational training courses to the Lao people. He added that in the time to come, the Lao People’s Army would study and apply experience in developing production while promoting the national defence-security of Army Corps 15 into their reality.
In addition, he hoped the two countries’ armies would steadily strengthen their solidarity and relationship, and further cooperate in their national construction and defence causes.
