The General Department of Vietnam Customs recently introduced Customs-Businesses Working Group and signed a cooperation agreement with VCCI on mechanisms for information, assistance and enhanced Customs-Businesses cooperation between the General Department of Vietnam Customs and Vietnam Business Forum Consortium (VBF Consortium). Maximum assistance to business community
Speaking at the conference, VCCI Vice President Doan Duy Khuong said that VCCI and the General Department of Vietnam Customs have shared a long-standing tradition of cooperation such as the monitoring of business contentment on customs office or annual programme of business dialogue on taxes and customs, etc. The signing this time will facilitate the Vietnamese business community in regional and international integration. Especially in 2015 with the formation of ASEAN economic community, one-stop customs programme will create a common playing field in favour of businesses in trade and investment.
At the signing ceremony, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Customs Nguyen Van Can announced that the Prime Minister has approved the Customs Development Strategy to 2020, and the customs network is actively implementing the main objectives of the strategy. One of them is the development and implementation of Customs-Businesses partnership programme. To this end, the department has activated, in the past few years, among others, the Customs-Businesses working group at the General Customs Department and the Customs-Businesses Consultative Groups at local customs offices.
The launching of Customs-Businesses working group and signing between VCCI and the General Customs on customs-businesses collaboration will create an important channel between the customs office, VBF Consortium and VCCI.
An important step
The agreement and operation of the Customs-Businesses working group will promote Party and State policies on the development of businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as more favourable business environment, facilitating trade, fair import-export, transparent customs and better administrative formalities.
The event marks an important step in the development and implementation of customs-business partnership, contributingeffectively to the modernization of customs office. Consequently, similar activities will take place in business associations to maximize the assistance to businesses in import-export operation, changing from customs management to customs service to businesses.
Also at the ceremony, VBF Consortium and VCCI representatives highly appreciated the efforts of the customs office in administrative reform, modernizing and committing to assist businesses in import-export activities, and expected further cooperation to promote import-export performance of business community.
Tran Thu Huong, Director, VCCI Centre for Certifying Commercial Documents (VCCI C/O) In the past, VCCI C/O Centre has closely coordinated with the General Customs Department. On the average, each year the Centre issues around 500 export C/O relating the customs declarations of businesses. Therefore, in collaboration with custom modernisation committee, the centre has organized several training courses on automatic customs system (VNACCS/VCIS) so that can make declarations on the new system. The Centre has also cooperated in investigation of trade fraud. The signing this time will enhance such cooperation. The Centre, in coordination with others, will assist businesses on non-tariff barriers when trade agreements enter into force.Virginia B. Foote, Co-Chair of VBF General Customs Department enhances national prestige, promoting investment and trade. Favourable and fast flows of trade depend on customs and administrative reform. I highly appreciate the efforts of Vietnam Customs in the recent past, as well as the cooperation between customs office and businesses to accelerate economic development.Le Hien
