In Kobe city (Japan), Haiphong held a conference to introduce investment potentials and opportunities in the city. Attending this workshop were Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh – Member of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of Haiphong’s Party Committee cum Chairman of Haiphong People‘s Council; members of Haiphong delegation; Mr. Nario Hattori – the former Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam; representatives of Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of more than 40 businesses in Kobe city. Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, Secretary of Haiphong‘s Party Committee presented an overview of Haiphong city with outstanding features in natural resources, geographical position, landscape and biological diversity. He also introduced the programs and plans to build Hai Phong into a green, civilized and modern port city; and the targets of attracting investment to Haiphong till 2020. Under this plan, the city focuses on attracting modern industries, high technology, biotechnology; targeting the model of a friendly-to-environment urban; developing harbor services, aviation, tourism, maritime economy, transportation, logistics, finance, export and import. City Secretary highlighted the city’s commitments to reform the single-door service; supporting investors in land clearance, investment procedures; announce in public the urban planning; accompany with investors from start to finish. Haiphong will always welcome and create every favorable condition for investors, especially Japanese businessmen. Director of Haiphong Department of Industry and Trade Pham Van Phuong made an introduction of Haiphong’s synchronous and modern infrastructure system in connection with other cities and provinces of Vietnam and countries all over the world. He also gave a brief of economic zones with lots of incentives for investors. Representative of Kobe Chamber of Commerce and Industry delivered aspeech to express the pleasure to welcome high-ranking leaders of Haiphong city. He asserted that local sectors and enterprises placed high value on the idea of organizing a workshop to introduce investment opportunities of Haiphong in Kobe. He stated the demand for overseas investment of Kobe’s enterprises, especially in Vietnam, is rising. He believed that with lots of incentive policies, Haiphong will attract more capital flows from Japan and Kobe city. Strikingly, Kobe’s businesses had a chance to hear Mr. Nario Hattori – the former Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Vietnam; Mr. Haruhisa Nakata – President of Witco Co., Ltd, who had been working and investing in Haiphong, Vietnam share attractiveness of Haiphong city. They highly appreciated the city’s potentials and strengths and encouraged Japanese enterprises to invest in Haiphong. At the workshop, representatives of Kobe firms and Haiphong city together discussed some issues of training human resources, teaching and learning Japanese, traffic joints, transportation means and policies to lure investment to Haiphong city. During the working visit in Kobe, Haiphong delegation visited the Port of Kobe to learn experience in managing and constructing the port. |
