State President Truong Tan Sang and his Tanzanian counterpart Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete witnessed the signing of an agreement on maritime transport between Viet Nam and Tanzania following their talks in Ha Noi on Monday. At the talks, the two Presidents agreed to foster political ties through the exchange of delegations at all levels, create favorable conditions for joint agriculture and telecommunication projects to be deployed soon. Both sides also agreed to instruct relevant ministries and agencies to actively accelerate cooperation in such fields like investment, trade, education, healthcare, and maritime transport. They were unanimous in organizing the meeting of Viet Nam-Tanzania Intergovernmental Committee next year. The two leaders agreed to strengthen close coordination at regional and international forums, contributing to building an equal and more democratic world for peace, stability, cooperation and development. State President Sang thanked Tanzania for backing Viet Nam to become a member of the UN Human Rights Council for the 2014-2016 tenure. State President Sang and his Tanzanian counterpart also discussed on the importance of ensuring security, safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea, of settling disputes by peaceful measures, of observing international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and working towards early conclusion of the Code of Conduct in the East Sea./. |
