A new health initiative for promoting HIV related services sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was launched in Ho Chi Minh City on October 31.

The five year initiative aims to encourage the involvement of the private sector in stimulating a feasible commercial market for HIV-related goods and services.

The project will leverage private-sector solutions, expertise, interests, and assets to identify market opportunities and catalyze market responses to the HIV epidemic. It focused on those groups including injecting drug users, female sex workers and gays who are at high risk of HIV transmission.

Earlier, the U.S. Global Health has supported Vietnam’s activities to improve residents’ health conditions and supplied preventive medicine services, treatment and condoms, needle and testing services capable of meeting the needs of populations facing the greatest risks.
