Swedish innovations introduced to Vietnam

PANO – An exhibition entitled “Swedish Innovations” opened at the Hoa Sen (Lotus) University in Ho Chi Minh on November 10th by the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam, the Swedish Institute, and Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee as part of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of Sweden-Vietnam diplomatic ties.


On display are the latest innovations in information technology, communications, science, clean technology, electronic games developed by 20 newly established companies. These young companies are expected to be leading Swedish groups in the future.

The exhibition started in 2011 and since then it had taken place in the US, Canada, Brazil, China, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea and Indonesia before coming to Vietnam.


Addressing the event, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Camilla Mellander said the innovations are key to economic development. Sweden, one of the most creative countries in the world and Sweden’s companies, universities, governmental departments and other organizations would be prepared to contribute to Vietnam’s efforts to develop the creative capability and secure a higher position in the global value chain, for the sake of Vietnam and its people.


Taking Celsius thermometer scale in 1741 and Skype in 2003 as typical examples of Swedish inventions, Director of the Swedish Institute Annika Rembe stressed that Sweden is willing to share experience in fostering creative culture and exchange solutions and inventions for future with Vietnam via this exhibition.


The exhibition is opened for the public from 8:00 to 17:00 everyday till the end of this month.
