Red River delta provinces spend over VND184 billion on humanitarian activities

In 2014, the 9 Red River delta provinces of Vinh Phuc, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh have spent VND184.710 billion carrying out humanitarian activities, the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) has reported.


Notably, provinces have granted 648 cows worth over VND8 billion for poor families; given free healthcare to over 40,000 people with nearly VND6 billion in humanitarian healthcare campaign; collected 67,023 units of blood; and cared for 2014 lunar New Year for 134,470 disadvantaged people with over VND41 billion.


According to the VRC, localities have implemented diverse effective programs, including the programs on building rural roads in Thai Binh province; on encouragement of cornea donation in Ninh Binh province; on natural disaster prevention in Quang Ninh province.
