Training course on Dao ethnic language to grassroots cadres in Son La province

A training course on the Dao ethnic language has been opened for more than 50 local people and cadres from Van Ho commune, Van Ho district, the northwestern province of Son La.


It is being held in the Center for Sustainable Development in Mountainous Areas under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and Van Ho commune People’s Committee.


The training course aims to help cadres in the commune not only know how to use the Dao ethnic language, but also apply it in their work, especially the preservation of language, the study of folklore, artistic works and enriching traditional cultural values of the Dao. This will also contribute to promoting exchange and popularising the Dao’s culture in Van Ho district, Son La province to the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups. It will run until February 10th, 2015.


Most of Dao ethnic people in Son La province live in Phu Yen, Moc Chau, Van Ho, Yen Chau and Bac Yen districts. The group has about 27,500 people, accounting for 2.5% of provincial population. Their language belongs to Mong – Dao group./.
