The International Charity Fair 2014 was held by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association (PFOWA) at the Serena hotel, the largest one in Pakistan’s national capital city of Islamabad on December 7th. More than 40 foreign missions, international organizations, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and corporations, large companies operating in Islamabad attended the event. The Vietnamese Embassy had two booths displaying handicraft products and introducing some special dishes prepared by staff of the embassy. When visiting Vietnam’s booth displaying handicraft products, the spouse of the Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain and other guests of honor were introduced to handmade embroidery paintings, palm leaf conical hats and other exquisite handicrafts of Vietnam. Ms. Mamnoon Hussain was very impressed with the skillful hands and the talent of the Vietnamese people. She thanked the Vietnamese Embassy for presenting handmade embroidery painting named “Uncle Ho’s stilt house” and “One-pillar pagoda”. Ms. Mamnoon Hussain said she admired the history of the struggle for protection of the country over the past time, impressive achievements gained in the construction of the country today. She especially admired President Ho Chi Minh. The event is held annually by PFOWA to raise funds to help poor, disable and disadvantaged people in society and create better conditions for education and healthcare for them. This year, the Vietnamese Embassy donated about PKR50,000 in cash and in kind./. |
