PANO – The Nestlé Group on January 8th initiated the 2016 global awards, “Creating Shared Value”, to encourage more initiatives in nutrition, water and rural development in developing countries.
Beginning in 2010, the awards, worth nearly US 500,000 (more than VND 1 billion), will give financial assistance to commercially feasible projects so that they could be expanded in operation and achieve sustainability in finance.
With this biannual prize, three best initiatives will be awarded.
Entries for the 2016 prize should be sent before February 28th, 2015. Further information is available at http://ift.tt/1w2Lap6.
The 2014 awards received more than 757 entries from 93 countries. One first and two second prizes were presented to three community projects in Africa.
Specifically, the first one went to Honey Care Africa’s initiative, a company in Sudan, with the aim to raise income for small households via honey production.
The second prizes went to innovative projects of MSABI, a nonprofit organization, and Sanergy, a Kenyan enterprise. MSABI has been carrying out programs providing water and sanitation systems for rural areas in Tanzania while Sanergy collects and removes human waste from the community and then converts them into high-valued products, such as fertilizers and energy.
