PANO – The program “Bridge of love” launched by the Ministry of Transport and the National Traffic Safety Committee has so far raised more than VND 360 billion from 129 benefactors to build small-scale bridges nationwide.
The figure was announced on January 17th in the live-broadcast program with the same title held in Hanoi in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
As planned, the program will construct 4,145 bridges, including 481 suspension ones in 50 provinces and cities with the total investment of VND 8,339 billion.
Since last May, 120 out of 186 suspension bridges in 28 Northern, Central and Central Highlands provinces have been built and 86 bridges will be put into operation before this lunar New Year while the remaining are expected to be completed by this June 30th.
Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the transport sector’s great efforts in carrying out the project. Realizing the project’s limited budget, the Deputy Prime Minister called on the community to join hands to help bring a better life for people living in remote and mountainous areas.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also expected that the donation should be used in the most effective and transparent manner.
