The Can Tho city steering committee on voluntary blood donation on January 13th reviewed the work in 2014 and launched a new blood donation campaign for the lunar New Year and the biggest blood donation event – Red Spring Festival 2015. (Photo: thanhdoan.cantho.gov.vn) According to the steering committee, in 2014, it worked with the city Hospital of Hematology to organise over 240 blood donation campaigns, collecting nearly 29,000 units of blood, accounting for 141% of the set plan. Mai Thanh Quang, Vice President of the city Red Cross and Deputy Head of the city steering committee on blood donation, said that the city had set up a club consisting of 50 members with rare blood types, an electronic blood bank with over 430 members, and 17 reserve blood donation clubs with 270 members. During the 2015 lunar New Year festival and Red Spring Festival, it targets to gather at least 6,000 donors, mobilising around 4,000 units of blood. It will also encourage scarce blood club and reserve blood donation club members to be ready for first-aid and treatment during the lunar New Year festival./. |
