To assist beneficiaries and poor people in having a better lunar New Year festival (Tet), localities across the country are allocating thousands of Tet presents for them. The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Nam has decided to spend nearly VND39 billion to give presents worth VND200 thousand-3.5 million to each revolutionary contributor’s family, centre for veterans and wounded soldiers and martyrs’ relatives. In the northern province of Lang Son, the provincial People’s Committee has earmarked over VND1.25 billion to give Tet presents worth VND500,000 each to poor families and extremely disadvantaged labourers. The province has also sent delegations to visit and grant presents to wounded soldiers at nursing centres. On January 26th-28th, the Associationin Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans (ASVHO) worked with relevant agencies and companies to give Tet presents to pupils at the Pac Nam district boarding school in the northern province of Bac Kan as well as poor families, disabled people and orphans in Bo Boc and Nhan Mon communes in Pac Nam district. The presents included essential goods for Tet and scholarships with a total capital of over VND320 million. Representatives from the PetroVietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) visited and gave 100 Tet presents worth VND500,000 each to beneficiaries, poor families and Agent Orange victims in Quang Dien and Phong Dien districts in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue. This was part of a program launched by the PVFCCo which aimed to allocate Tet presents worth nearly VND5 billion to 10,000 beneficiaries and disadvantaged families across 40 provinces and cities. In Da Nang city, the city Confederation of Labour has presented 200 Tet gifts worth VND500,000 each to disadvantaged officials and labourers. The gifts belonged to a program to award 2,000 presents worth VND1 billion to disadvantaged officials and labourers. In addition, 190 presents worth VND400,000 each will also be given to fishermen and workers coming from other localities who cannot go home to welcome Tet./. |
