(CPV) - The Thanh Hoa provincial Department of Agriculture & Rural Development and Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd on March 22nd co-organized the forest planting festival “For a green Vietnam 2015″, in Ben En National Park, Nhu Thanh district. The event welcomed 100 volunteers of Canon Social & Culture Volunteer Network and 100 students for continuing education centre in Nhu Thanh district. The forest planting project of Canon Vietnam was implemented in Ben En National Park in 2011, seeing now a total newly planted area of up to nearly 100ha, mainly erythrophleum fordii and Chukrasia tabularis var trees. It not only contributes to the protection of low-belt forest ecosystem, but also raise awareness about environmental protection among the youth with practical activities and strongly connects the youth movement and enterprises through meaningful social activities. “Through this project, I hope students and members of the Youth Union will raise awareness of environmental protection, plant trees together to create green lungs for the Earth. The young trees we plant are not only for us, but also for generations of our descendants. This will be the most precious gift we can leave for future generations”, said Mr. Soma Katsuyoshi-General Director of Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd. Under the motto “Green-Clean-Nice environment” and social sustainable development, through social activities such as planting forest “For a green Vietnam” environmental protection popularization program, and marking “World Environmental Day”, Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd has contributed significantly for a healthier environment and raising awareness of people about environmental preservation and protection in the nation. According to Mr Do Xuan Loc, deputy head of the Forest Protection Department under the Thanh Hoa provincial Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, currently, the coverage of forest in Thanh Hoa province has increased from 36.5% in 1999 to 51% in 2013, a 10% higher than the national average, thus creating a solid foundation for forest processing industry and generating job for around 20,000 local households as well. The project has been implemented on 140 ha in the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Bac Giang and Lang Son./. |
