Lots of tourism-development indicators not meeting the plan

The Monitoring group of the Provincial Permanent People’s Council led comrade Nguyen Huu Hiep, Member of the Standing Provincial Party Committee cum Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, have recently finished the supervision term for Phu Yen tourism development for the period of 2011 -2015 and orientation to 2025 under the Resolution 36 dated December 16th , 2011 by the Provincial People’s Council.

The delegate held monitoring in the districts of Tuy An, Dong Hoa, Tuy Hoa city and Phu Yen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.


According to the report on implementing Resolution 36 by the Provincial People’s Council on tourism development in the 2011-2015 period, after the resolution, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism advised the PPC to organize the conference for thorough studying, issuing plan, assigning tasks to departments, agencies and localities to implement, which has, so far, created essential results, promoting the local tourism industry, domestic and foreign tourists to know much more about Phu Yen’s travel. However, a number of development indicators in the period of 2011-2015 have not been met as to the proposed plan stated in the resolutions, in detail: revenue from tourism in 2015 is estimated at VND 900 billion (the target at VND 1,684 billion); the present accommodation establishments of 125, including 5 establishments from 3 stars to 5 stars (the target of 140 establishments, with 12 to 13 basis of from 3 to 5 stars); number of direct labor in the tourism sector of about 3,620 employees (6,100 labor as the target)…


The Monitoring team noted the achieved results so as to ascertain the limitation causes and shortcomings in investing into the provincial tourism development, also regarded the comments and recommendations of the units to report to the Standing People’s Council.
