The 2013 parliamentary election was held in Norway on September 9, with about 3,000 polling stations opening across Norway.

Of 3.6 million registered voters, some 70,000 chose to cast their ballots in advanced voting.

A total of 21 political parties or groups are competing for the 169 seats in the Norwegian parliament. The 169 parliamentarians are elected for four year terms.

54.3 percent of voters backed the four centre-right parties. That would give them a comfortable majority of 95 of 169 seats in parliament.

Incumbent Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg’s centre-left coalition garnered just 39 percent of voter sympathies, with 68 seats in parliament.

Norway holds a parliamentary election every four years. The Election Day, which is set by the king, normally is the second or third Monday in September of the election year, Xinhua said./.
