French author Patrick Deville holds talk downtown

Literature researcher Nguyen Thi Tu Huy will lecture at the function with writer Nguyen Truong Quy, who edited the Vietnamese edition, MC.


The book depicts brilliant scientist and polymath Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943) in Indochina in the early 20th century focusing on his passion for scientific research and invention, and exploring untouched and mysterious areas in Vietnam.


The book was listed among the finalists of the prestigious Prix Goncourt French literature awards and received the Femina award in 2012.


The book’s Vietnamese edition is entitled Yersin: Dich hach & tho ta and is published by Tre Publishing House with the acknowledgement of French ambassador to Vietnam Jean-Noel Poirier.


Deville, born in 1957, is considered one of the leading French authors, releasing 10 novels.


The talk, at Idecaf, 31 Thai Van Lung, District 1, is hosted by the HCMC Antenna of the French Institute in Vietnam and Tre Publishing House.
