PANO – Quang Ninh Provincial Buddhist Church and the Vietnam Buddhism Academy on December 2nd opened a scientific seminar, titled “Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Buddhism and the Master Plan for Preserving and Developing the Values of Yen Tu Relic Site” at Trinh Pagoda, Uong Bi City.
Participants reiterated the special importance of Yen Tu relic site in Quang Ninh Province’s socio-economic development and the long-term strategy of investing, preserving and promoting the site’s values, recommending certain plans to build Yen Tu into the Buddhist Centre-Vietnam Truc Lam Zen and an important destination on the Hanoi-Quang Ninh tourism route.
Speeches delivered at the seminar focused on Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen Buddhism’s characteristics, positive values in national industrialization and modernization, and international integration, significance and vision of preservation and promotion of Yen Tu relic site’s values.
Speaking at the seminar, Nguyen Van Doc, Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, pointed out certain results in preserving and promoting values of Yen Tu relic site. Accordingly, Lan and Trinh Pagodas were restored already, the roads to Hoa Yen Pagoda and Giai Oan (vindication) spring were improved and a system of cable cars was built.
Chairman Nguyen Van Doc also said that Quang Ninh Province is completing the dossier to submit to UNESCO for recognizing Yen Tu as a World Cultural Heritage.
As approved by the Prime Minister, Yen Tu relic site would be extended, covering more than 9,000 hectares, 3 times larger than that of the project in 1997.
