NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung addresses the conference (VNA)
Nhan Dan – The National Assembly Standing Committee (NASC) and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee should co-ordinate better to effectively disseminate the newly amended Constitution to people from all walks of life.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the statement at a joint conference between the two agencies on their co-operation plan for 2014 in Hanoi on January 10. He added that this improved collaboration would ensure the people’s respect for, compliance with and responsibilities under the constitution and State laws.
Chairman Hung said that both agencies should boost co-ordination to contribute ideas and realise the social criticism function of the VFF and its branches in building laws while understanding, reflecting and following up on responses to the ideas of the people and the voters, particularly those related to pressing and concerning issues.
The NASC will create favourable conditions for this, and will work closely with members of the VFF Central Committee Presidium to take part in the oversight activities of the NA and the NASC, said Chairman Hung.
VFF Central Committee President Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the two agencies’ co-operation, saying that the VFF would continue to disseminate Party policies and State laws, particularly the constitution’s new amendments, to social organisations and people from all walks of life, working closely with the NASC on oversight tasks.
At the conference, VFF Central Committee Vice President and General Secretary Vu Trong Kim delivered a report on the implementation of the co-ordination mechanism between the two agencies in 2013 and major tasks for 2014.
Accordingly, the two sides engaged in numerous activities to strengthen the national unity bloc and worked together to encourage people to comment on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution, improve the quality of NA deputies’ meetings with voters, and collect the ideas and suggestions of voters and the public, as well as to co-ordinate on oversight activities.
