PANO – The comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the US has paved the way for the development of bilateral defence cooperation.
This was stated by Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army cum Deputy Minister of National Defence, at the reception given to General Herbert J. Carlisle, Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces, on March 17th.
The US guest briefed General Ty on outcomes of his talks with leaders of the Vietnamese Air Defence and Air Forces Service. The two sides discussed measures to boost their cooperation in humanitarian assistance, search and rescue, military medicine and pilot training in the coming time.
For his part, the Vietnamese general hoped that the two sides’ air forces would promote delegation exchanges at all levels, and share information and experience in carrying out search and rescue at sea, air force medical research, English language training for Vietnamese officers, activities to deal with the consequences of post-war bombs and mines in Vietnam, and issues related to American soldiers missing in action.
