VGP – The number of new HIV carriers in Ha Noi decreased by 14.37% compared to the same period last year.
According to the statistics of the municipal Department of Health, as of June 30, the city has 21,210 HIV-positive people, of whom 5,290 are living with AIDS and 3,860 died of AIDS.
In the first half of the year, 262 people were tested positive with HIV, 78.36% of whom age from 25-49. Men have accounted for more than 74% of the reported HIVcases while women only made up nearly 26%.
The proportion of people infected with HIV through injecting drugs, sexual transmission and pregnant women accounted for 58.78%, 30.15% and 6.11%, respectively.
Ha Noi has launched a number of communication and education activities to reduce HIV transmission and infection.
