Samsung Electronics Vietnam on August 8 presented 100 wheelchairs to disabled children in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.
The locality is now home to nearly 280,000 children, including more than 3,000 with disabilities or from disadvantaged backgrounds, according to the provincial Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Vietnam has over 1.2 million disabled children, many of whom are affected by the aftermaths of war, especially toxic chemicals, bombs, mines and explosive remnants.
The country in June 2010 passed its own Law on Persons with Disabilities, which reflects its legal progress in protecting the rights of disabled children.
