PANO – The first turbine of the Vung Ang 1 thermo power plant in the Central province of Ha Tinh has generated electricity at full capacity, said the Vietnam Machine Installation Corporation (Lilama) on August 8th.

With a capacity of 600MW per turbine, this is Vietnam’s largest capacity thermal power project to join the national grid, followed an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by the Lilama.

As scheduled, the first turbine will start the commercial generation from October, while the second turbine is expected to test run soon.

The construction of the Vung Ang 1 thermo power plant with a total capacity of 1,200MW started in 2009 with the investment capital of VND 29.5 trillion.
