PANO – Military art troupes should heighten artists-soldiers’ spirit to continue devoting to and enriching the spiritual life of both troops and people, and at the same time actively preserve and popularize traditional art of the nation.

It was stated by Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), at a conference held on September 18th in Hanoi to review the recent 2014 Whole-Army Professional Art Festival and the implementation of the project on planning and building VPA’s professional art troupes in the 2011-2015 period.

Participants at the conference highly spoke of the great success of the above festival hosted by Ho Chi Minh City on August 8th to 15th, leaving deep impression on both experts and audiences and confirming military art troupes’ status and prestige.

About the project, military theatres and art troupes from military zones, arms and border guard have had their strengthened organizations and high quality staffers. Besides, with the ministry’s new positive policies, art troupes have improved the art quality, meeting growing demands of troops and people. However, there have remained some shortcomings that need to be overcome soon.

Stressing the significance and good effect of the 2014 Whole-Army Professional Art Festival, General Nghia suggested military theatres and art troupes continuously entertain troops and people in the areas where they are stationed, and in remote and mountainous areas and on islands, with their best works during the VPA’s 70th founding anniversary.

The general also affirmed that the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defence and the General Department of Politics always attach much importance to the art and culture work and create favourable conditions for military art units to further develop.
