PANO – Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Thanh Cung, Deputy Minister of National Defence, on November 11th worked with Kon Tum province to check the process of implementing the provincial project “Ensuring National Defence” in the 2014-2020 period.
Colonel Vo Thanh Chin, the permanent member of the provincial party committee and commander of the provincial military command, reported that the province has built the VND 57.405 trillion project, including more than VND 8 trillion from the province, under the Ministry’s direction to meet the socio-economic, cultural, defence and security development in the locality.
Being briefed on the unit situation and suggestions, General Cung highly appreciated the province’s proactiveness and laid stress on the importance and need of building this project in the Central Highlands, so that the defence potential would be further understood and standby forces would be mobilized whenever any unexpected combat happens.
The general asked the province to complete the project based on reality in the locality with specific plans to make it feasible.
The same day, the general checked the combat readiness training, building unit, border guard, drug prevention and anti-trade fraud at the Kon Tum Provincial Border Guard Command.
Over the past year, the command has carried out measures to fight drug crime, trafficking and trade fraud, ensuring political security and social order in border areas.
Hailing the force for its good results in implementing missions, General Cung reminded them to heighten vigilance and watch, actively cooperate with local departments and army units stationed in the locality to fight Ha Mon heresy, encourage locals living along the border line to enforce border regulations, and firmly defend northern Central Highlands border.
