Tribute to Vietnamese heroic mothers

PANO – A working mission of the General Department of Politics has arrived in Thang Binh district (Quang Nam province) to organise a ceremony to air its commitment to take care of 18 Vietnamese heroic mothers in the locality. This is a practical deed to show gratitude to the heroic mothers who had suffered great losses and had sacrificed a lot for the cause of national liberation.

On the early morning of January 23rd, having reached agreement on the contents of the event with the district’s authorities, the mission’s members presented gifts and financial support to the elderly and sick mothers.

Mothers’ tears

From the town of Ha Lam, the mission crossed a vast white sand area to the home of mother Phan Thi Tuong in Binh Giang commune, whose two sons had sacrificed their lives in the resistance war. It was really hard for the 105 year-old mother to move but upon knowing the visit of the troops of the General Department of Politics, tears well up her eyes and ran down to her cheeks. She fancied her sons might have returned home and softly asked: “Who are you Luong, or Tuong?”

All the mission members could not hold back their tears. Nguyen Thi Lien, who has been voluntarily taken care of mother Phan Thi Tuong, said: “After the years, Mother Tuong has never stopped thinking about and missing her beloved sons. Whenever some one visited, she always thought that her children have returned home!” Again she shed tears while receiving the gratitude gift.

Leaving Mother Tuong, the mission visited and presented gifts to other mothers in the district. Each mother has different family states; however, they share the same pain, the unhealable pain of losing their most beloved ones. Their son or husband had laid down their lives during the resistance war for the national salvation.

Tribute to the fallen

To pay tribute and help ease the pain and difficulties in life for these mothers, the General Department of Politics has committed to taking care of 18 Vietnamese heroic mothers with the monthly allowance of VND 500,000 each. On this occasion, the mission also presented each mother a gift worth VND 1 million each.

In recent years, the agencies of the General Department of Politics have volunteered to take care of 64 Vietnamese heroic mothers, visited and presented gifts valued at hundreds of millions of VND to policy beneficiaries and national contributors. Last year alone, the agencies built 47 gratitude and comradeship houses for policy beneficiaries’ families.

Despite the winter cold, everyone felt warm with the sentiment that everyone shared with the mothers. From now on, the mothers will feel warmer, as they will be taken care of by many Uncle Ho’s soldiers like their own children with all their respect and love.
