Government sets 2015 target of achieving 6.2% GDP

VGP – According to a resolution made at the Government’s January regular meeting, ministries, agencies and localities were urged to strive for a 6.2% gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year.

The resolution asked ministries, agencies and localities to implement plans to ease difficulties to boost production and trade, make changes in administrative and business environment reforms and enhance the restructuring of the economy.


The State Bank of Viet Nam was asked to take measures to increase credits for production and trade, enhance oversight of credit institutions’ operation in order to reduce bad debts to 3% by the end of the year and restructure credit institutions as planned.


The Ministry of Planning and Investment was required to work with other ministries and localities to promote, encourage and attract investment.


The Ministry of Finance should ensure State budget balance, manage closely State budget spending, enhance price management and continue administrative reforms related to taxes, the resolution said.


The Ministry of Industry and Trade was asked to ensure the supply-demand balance, work with relevant agencies to control the market and prevent smuggling, as well as make appropriate adjustments to fuel and power prices.


The Ministry of Transportation was assigned to ensure traffic safety during the Tet holiday and manage effectively transportation fees while the People Committees of central-governed provinces and cities were steered to take part in controlling vehicles, transportation business and transportation fees and monitoring quality of transportation projects.


The Ministry of Public Security was urged to ensure national security and social safety and order, subdue crimes and enhance examination over transportation violations, especially during the Tet holiday.


The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development should ensure sufficient provision of farm products during the Tet holiday, response effectively to weather changes, diseases and smuggling of livestocks and cattles through borders, the resolution said.


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism was assigned to improve the quality of artistic and festive activities during the Tet holiday.


The Government asked the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to work with relevant ministries, agencies and localities to implement effectively social welfare policies for revolutionary contributors, disadvantaged people and policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the new lunar year.


Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health was steered to provide health care services, enhance preventive medical work and ensure food safety.
