In recent years, Ham Tan Forestry Co.,Ltd has contributed significantly to the protection and development of forests in Ham Tan district and La Gi town in particular, as well as Binh Thuan province in general. In the process of performing the tasks, the company not only helps stabilize and protect the forest environment but also contributes to improving forest coverage annually in Binh Thuan.
Ham Tan Forestry Co.,Ltd has been assigned two main tasks which are public works and production-business. For public works, the company is in charge of forest protection and management, planting and taking care of forests, and forest tree nursery. For production and business, the company is allowed to harvest forest products; develop and process wood from plantations; shave wood; and buy and sell agricultural and forestry raw materials.
Identifying forest protection, construction and development of forest resources as the primary task, Ham Tan Forestry Company has actively implemented measures for forest protection and fire prevention to reduce to the lowest level of violation, causing damage to the forest. The company maintains cooperation with ethnic minorities for forestation and forest protection. Especially in the last few years, Ham Tan Forestry Company has discovered and handled many cases of forest encroachment, deforestation, illegal transportation and sale of timber and forest products; inspected, detected and cleared illegal crops on forest cover and encroached forest land for reforestation. Every year, fire prevention is well taken under the plan approved. In the forest area managed by the company, fire has not happened.
Sharing about the ways to implement plans to protect and develop forests in the future, Director Vo Dang Dung said that currently, rainy season just started, so planting season has arrived, on the basis of targets assigned, the company will immediately strengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of a plan to protect and develop forests in 2014; pay due attention to afforestation and promptly remove obstacles to fulfil the targets of the year.
