(VOV) -Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan is leading a Vietnamese delegation to the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction which will open on March 14 in Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
The conference is designed to assess and review the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action for the period 2005 – 2015.
The framework is a global blueprint for disaster risk reduction with a ten-year plan, adopted in January, 2005 by 168 governments at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan.
The Sendai conference is to discuss experience and proposals and adopt a post-2015 framework for disaster risk reduction.
Japan will share with the other participants the lessons it has drawn from dealing with the severe of tsunami that struck its northern coast in 2011.
